Paul Walker Dies Tragically

Paul

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2013— We are so heartbroken to report that actor Paul Walker has passed away. He was 40 years old.

Major news organizations such as USA Today and Fox News are reporting he was killed in a car accident in Southern California Saturday afternoon.

It’s been reported that Walker was a passenger in the car, and had been at an event for his charity, Reach Out Worldwide, which is a relief organization devoted to helping the lives of those impacted by catastrophic natural disasters.

Sheriff’s office reports say there was another person in the car, also deceased. As of December 1 the incident is still under investigation.

Here’s a recent post about the accident on CNN.

As of December 1, the Los Angeles Times is reporting that the “single-vehicle crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the 28300 block of Rye Canyon Loop. Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived to find a vehicle engulfed in flames. Two people in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.”

His official Facebook Page carried this sad message: “It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences.”

A Facebook user identified as Bill Townsend wrote this in the comments: “I was with Paul today. He was surrounded by friends, talking about cars, seeing hundreds of gifts brought for kids to give out by charity. The news is terribly sad. The world lost an angel and Heaven gained one. I’m going to commit to helping ensure the Paul’s charity lives on and that his love of cars and people, especially children, will be remembered forever.”

Paul of course is known for the Fast & Furious movies. He was also one of the fan picks to play Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, even though the role was not discussed with him.

Tributes on social media are pouring in with so many people who knew Paul remembering him as a down to earth guy who was successful and a hard worker, but not lost to the negative side of Hollywood.

Favorite Reads: Kellan Kyle and the Thoughtless Series by S.C. Stephens

Kellan Kyle.

He was one of the first leading man to get my attention after my post Fifty Shades Christian Grey hangover.

Hot. Hot. Hot. He is a local rocker and rising star of the amazing S.C. Stephens Series that began with Thoughtless and Effortless and culminated with Reckless.

Kellan is the boyfriend everyone wants in college. He is gorgeous, great in bed, and the lead singer of the D-Bags, a band you become very fond of as your follow them through each story.

Every woman wants him and, well, apparently every woman has had him. He is on the slutty side, and this presents a lot of conflicts when he hooks up with the prudish Kiera Allen, who thinks he is being too sexual on stage, let alone his personal behavior.

When she meets him it is with her boyfriend Denny, who is also they kind of boyfriend girls want. He is an old family friend and Kiera and Denny move in to Kellan’s home as roommates. Denny gets called to an out-of-town work opportunity and Kellan kind of looks out for her, but in the process, he starts falling for her.

SPOILER ALERT: Denny gets a longer term offer on the job that’s already taken him away, and strands Kiera in the house with Kellan. She is in college, and has scholarships, and really can’t go anywhere. When Denny stupidly tells her he will be gone for another long period of time, she finally gives in to her desire.

As much as I adored this hot rocker, I was in a state of agitation while reading this book. The love triangle was maddening. Wanted to yell at the heroine, Kiera Allen, because her wishy-washy behavior was making me insane.

This meant, of course, I could not put the books down. I read while walking in the street, as I headed for appointments, while shopping, and any chance I got.

Could. Not. Stop. Reading.

I was hijacked by this love triangle between Kellan, Kiera, and her boyfriend, Denny, and was really worried about how it would all turn out.

Kellan Kyle was amazing, even when he was at his worst. And he was lovable, even when he was being bad. Yes, a loveable bad boy — but not really, because he had a heart of gold. Oh, and did I say he was drop dead gorgeous and everyone wanted him. Yeah, that too.

These books are page turners and they inspire a lot of heartbreak and angst. But book two (Effortless) has the happiest ending ever – so good that I could not bring myself to be tortured by book three yet. But I will.

Here’s the reading order:

Thoughtless
Effortless
Reckless

Did Christian Grey and Ana Steele Really Fall In Love At First Sight?

BlindfoldWoman

By A. Charlotte Rose

One of the exciting aspect so of Fifty Shades oF Grey is that everything happened so quickly. But was it actually love at first sight?

I believe it was.

Essentially, they had each other at hello—although neither of them were familiar enough with love to recognize it in that moment.

Although there was a bit of a back and forth dance that led to the start of their relationship, from the moment they met the connection is strong. As the characters reveal their emotions to themselves, and one another, we see that this really was love at first sight, according to recent discoveries about love and how it impacts the brain.

After her first meeting with Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele, has a strong physical reaction to Mr. Grey—and he to her. Because it is so unfamiliar, it frightens her so she tries to get away, right after interviewing him. With heart pounding, she heads for the elevator and tries to leave the building.

“No man has ever affected me the way Christian Grey has, and I cannot fathom why,” she muses to herself. “Is it his looks? His civility? Wealth? Power? I don’t understand my irrational reaction. I breathe an enormous sigh of relief. What in heaven’s name was that all about? I valiantly attempt to calm down and gather my thoughts. I shake my head. What was that? (p. 17).”

These two are irresistibly drawn to each other. It manifests in Ana in physical symptoms that make her feel out of control and unable to speak intelligently, in addition to woozy clumsiness and falling, in reaction to Christian.

These all appear symptomatic of falling in love, according to a meta-analysis study conducted by Syracuse University Professor Stephanie Ortigue that revealed falling in love can elicit not only the same euphoric feeling as using cocaine, but also affects intellectual areas of the brain. The researchers also found falling in love only takes about a fifth of a second!

These findings seemed to mirror the awkwardness of Ana and Christian’s first meeting – he was cool and collected on the outside but he later reveal how taken he was and she was obviously overwrought by feelings in those first moments. While she kept thinking he was arrogant and annoying, her body seemed to be having a different kind of reaction.

According to a October 22, 2010 report in Science Daily, “Results [from Professor Stephanie Ortigue’s study] revealed when a person falls in love, 12 areas of the brain work in tandem to release euphoria-inducing chemicals such as dopamine, oxytocin, adrenaline and vasopressin. The love feeling also affects sophisticated cognitive functions, such as mental representation, metaphors, and body image. ”

The researcher was asked if the heart or brain fall in love and Ortigue responded: “I would say the brain, but the heart is also related because the complex concept of love is formed by both bottom-up and top-down processes from the brain to the heart and vice versa. For instance, activation in some parts of the brain can generate simulations to the heart, and butterflies in the stomach. Some symptoms we sometimes feel as a manifestation of the heart may sometimes be coming from the brain.”

Ana was in Christian’s office for under an hour, yet she experienced so much that she was overcome by her reaction to him much in the way that researchers described as love at first sight.

Do you believe it was love at first sight?

Eloise Mumford Cast As Anastasia Steel’s Best Friend Kate Kavanagh in Fifty Shades

eloise_mumford

By A. Charlotte Rose

Eloise Mumford has been cast as Anastasia Steele’s best friend, Kate Kavanagh, according to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. Yay, another major cast member has been secured. Let the production begin!

The actress is known for her work on The River and Lonestar TV Series. She also appeared recently in the movie Drones, and in the Miley Cyrus vehicle, So Undercover.

She was voted “Sexiest Woman Alive” two years in a row — last year and this December 2013– by Glamour Magazine.

She is reportedly 27-years-old and tabloids recently reported that she is in a relationship and was spotted shopping around for engagement rings with her boyfriend.

In Fifty Shades of Grey, Ana and Kate are opposites. Kate is sassy, sexy, more sexually seasoned, and does not filter what she says. Ana is quieter, shyer, more bookish, and confounded about sex in the beginning of her fling with Christian.

They have been roommates and best friends for four years. They met in their freshman year at Washington State University Vancouver and they are both about to graduate when the book opens.

Kate is an aspiring journalist, and is editor of the school paper.

The relationship between Christian and Ana developed because Kate got sick and talked Ana into filling in for her by interviewing the enigmatic business man, Christian Grey. It was that first meeting, and a photo shoot that followed, that formed the beginning of the iconic romance between Christian and Ana.

See her acting credits at IMBd.

The Love Story that is ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’

By A. Charlotte Rose

Many women say that when they read Fifty Shades of Grey it’s easy to get caught up in the sexy and stormy storyline about the love affair between protagonists Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

In the books, he’s described as a gorgeous, fit, sexy, generous, multi-talented, billionaire who could easily defined as a perfect man-except for a deep dark secret (he’s into BDSM) and a difficult childhood that left him damaged. She is an attractive, shy, unworldly virgin who works part time in a hardware store, and does not think she is beautiful or special, but of course, she is both.

Anastasia, 21, meets Christian, 27, while interviewing him for her school paper just before she is about to graduate from college. She is still an innocent. He seems distant and arrogant. She is clumsy and shy (she literally falls into his office and has to be assisted by Mr. Grey to stand up), yet, from the moment their hands touch, electricity happens and you know, by page 8, that something special is afoot. Thus begins the attraction that leads to the love story that takes us through three books in the trilogy and compels us to follow the roller coaster of love that is the stormy yet deeply passionate and profoundly loving relationship between Christian and Ana.

They were drawn to each other from the first moment, however, what Christian first proposes to Ana was a rather shocking “exchange relationship” in which he would take care of her financially, supply her with all the comforts of life, and look after her in all ways but he would be her dominant and, she, his submissive. There was NDA (Non-disclosure agreement) as well as an extensive business contract to sign. It was to be a purely sexual arrangement and in exchange Ana was to allow him to do whatever he pleased-within the clear contractual boundaries he described as hard limits and soft limits.

Ana was open-minded but she wanted “more”-essentially a real, regular relationship where they would be there for each other as romantic partners. They spent a good deal of time negotiating their agreement only to discard to as they find their way toward true affection, romance, love, and what many readers agree was extremely satisfying sex!

The story portrays a worldly yet damaged man who is deeply involved in kinky, unloving sex and a kind, virginal woman who has no sexual experience and craves love. It looks at how those two people overcome that inherent problem, as well as many internal and external conflicts and roadblocks in their relationship.

While women worldwide seem to be enjoying the sex in the trilogy, many say the most moving part is the love story – and how their attraction and trust for one another built over time.

Ultimately, in true romance book fashion, by the third book in the trilogy, we come to a perfect ending where everyone lives happily ever after.
