November 13, 2013— Holy Crap! Entertainment Weekly got the scoop of the week: The first photos of Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson in character as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele and an interview with the anointed ones.
The hot-off-the-presses article reveals, for the first time, what these two rising stars have to say about what drew them to the roles, the pressures involved with portraying such iconic fictional characters with such a strong fan base, and how they are preparing.
And, most importantly, it shows what they look like in character!
His beard shaved. Her hair darker. Them standing close, real close. And just look at the possessive way he has his hand on her shoulder. And how she looks a tad uncertain. This is what we’ve all been waiting for!
Doesn’t it relieve some of the tension everyone has been feeling about being in production limbo?
One of the fun facts is that the very slim and lovely Dakota Johnson, who just turned 24, and is the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, said this role created a need to do some serious working out. Even though she has spent time on-screen in her underwear (“The Social Network”) and having sex (“Five Year Engagement”), Entertainment Weekly reported: “Obviously, I want to look good naked,” the newly brunette actress tells EW. “I totally understand now why people exercise, because it kind of f—ing feels awesome.”
And won’t Mr. Grey be happy to know his potential sub is getting ready for the red room in the way he requested of Ana in the book.
Dornan on the other hand is pretty comfy with his body and has spent even more time being photographed and filmed in his underwear– and even without. In fact, if you look hard enough, there are some revealing nude photos of him floating around the Internet. He told EW is not at all stressed about stripping, whipping, and sexing it up for the movie.
“I’m a fairly worldly guy,” he told EW. “I grew up in a very liberal place. I’m not saying we had a playroom, but I’m not shocked by [the sex in the book]. It’s essential to tell the story. I can’t believe films that don’t invoke the sexual side of it. So it works for me.”
Oh my! It’s finally happening. But the article reveals that the release date for the movie has been changed to Valentine’s Day 2015, so many fans feel it is not happening soon enough!
You can bet this edition of Entertainment Weekly will sell out!
