Jamie Dornan’s appearance on the The Graham Norton Show was shown again last night and he was modest as can be about his role in Fifty Shades and the fame coming his way.
Jamie Dornan speaking about Fifty Shades of Grey starts at around 2:56 on this video.
When Graham Norton casually asked how the role of Christian Grey will impact his life, Jamie was kind of nonchalant.
“I have no idea,” he said. “It’s very hard to imagine or prepare.”
“I mean, look, we’re in a really powerful position that 90-plus million people have read the book so if like a third—I mean, a hundredth of those people—that’s successful if they go see the film. It’s a nice position to be in, but I have no idea what it’s gonna do,” he said.
Jamie does not seem to understand that once The Fifty Shades of Grey movie comes out, women will be chomping at his underwear and asking to have his baby. If he sells us on his portrayal of Christian Grey — which we predict he will — he will be the object of the fantasies of those gazillions of Fifty fans.
And by the way, add another 10 million to his statement because sales figures for the book rose to 100,000 recently. Simultaneously, Jamie Dornan’s star has been rising.
When Jamie won the role of Christian in Fifty Shades of Grey, he became an international celebrity. Even if not ever fan agreed with the casting, they now knew who he was.
Althought already and international phenomenon, but he has been too busy to know it. In 2013:
* He got married
* He had his first child
* He finished shooting The Fall
* He shot a major ad campaign
* He landed the role of Christian Grey
* He began shooting Fifty Shades of Grey
* His star power zoomed to make him a recognizable public figure
He remains a down to earth guy. On The Graham Norton Show he mostly discussed his walk, and his self-consciousness about it, and demonstrated his walking challenges.
Learning how to dance for Fifty Shades of Grey taught him how to walk better.
