9 Inspiring Quotes About Soul Mates

By A. C. Rose

Do you believe in soul mates or do you think they only exist in romance novels? My new book AROUSAL is an unusual love story about soul mates and fated love.

I have always been inspired by love stories and quotes about love mean to be.  Here are nine strong voices from literature, the arts, and history sharing their views on soul mates.

Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.
-Emily Brontë

In all the world, there is no heart for me like yours. In all the world, there is no love for you like mine.
-Maya Angelou

He felt now that he was not simply close to her, but that he did not know where he ended and she began.
-Leo Tolstoy

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.
-Bruce Lee

A soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we’re pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we’re safe in our own paradise.
-Richard Bach

We recognize a soul mate by the supreme level of comfort and security we feel with that person. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t issues that remain to be ironed out. Rather, it means we know intuitively that we can resolve issues with our soul mate without losing his or her love and respect.
-Linda Brady

People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.
-Elizabeth Gilbert

A soulmate is someone to whom we feel profoundly connected, as though the communicating and communing that take place between us were not the product of intentional efforts, but rather a divine grace.
-Thomas Moore

The minute I heard my first love story I started looking for you, not knowing how blind I was. Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.

How would you describe a soul mate?

Favorite Sexy Quotes from AROUSAL by A.C. Rose

By A.C. Rose

Sexy, suave, European billionaire and CEO Nicolai Petre meets his match in beautiful, skeptical, New Yorker Allison Monroe, who is running a PR campaign for his company. He is looking for his soul mate and believes Allison is “the one.” She doesn’t even believe in love!

Despite her romantic resistance, she’s drawn to him by a powerful magnetic force. With his blue-green eyes and sexy gaze…kisses that make her knees weak..his deliciously alluring scent…and a touch makes her tingle all over…sigh. He’s irresistible.

He wants to carry her off and ravish her more than anything but he can’t, until he knows for sure that she…loves him.

He’s got six days win her heart. So he must do things that keep her in a constant state of yearning, of desire, of AROUSAL.

“He moved in closer, and pressed me against the elevator wall, his body touching mine. Arousal stirred inside me as his kiss grew deeper, more probing, and more possessive. My brain left the building and fear left my body as I was transformed into a tingling mass of nerve endings. The only thing that seemed to exist in that moment was our mouths, melded together, like a perfect, matching set.”

– From AROUSAL, by A.C. Rose

“Even if I were a complete buffoon, with no intuition or emotional intelligence, I doubt I would have missed the electricity between us in the elevator when we first set eyes on each other, or how my kiss calmed you, or the way that energy rose up and traveled across the room when our gazes touched again. And how could I possibly ignore the force that continues to pervade the space between us. You feel it too, don’t you, Ms. Monroe?”

– From AROUSAL, by A.C. Rose
He met my glance with an intense, soulful stare, holding my gaze with his from the distance. It was so intimate. I am not sure how it is possible, but I felt him from across the crowded room. A surge of energy tickled my spine, and then all of me buzzed with electricity. “Turn away now,” said my rational self. Do not engage!

– From AROUSAL, by A.C. Rose

That crazed look was in his eyes again. Instead of moving away from me, he pulled me close and kissed me. His mouth opened wide on mine and his tongue went deep. He was thrusting into me, possessing me with his mouth. I had to catch my breath when it was over.

– From AROUSAL, by A.C. Rose

“What makes you think I even want my destiny to be with you?” The moon and the sky and the twinkling buildings were romantic, but this was more like a foreign film with hard-to-read subtitles. He was clearly speaking in English, yet the nature of our discussion was foreign to me.
“You don’t yet, quite obviously. I have to make you believe in me, in us. I have to win you.”

– From AROUSAL, by A.C. Rose

“I sighed and pressed my head to his shoulder. I felt like we should be rolling over and smoking a cigarette after what we had done with our mouths”

– From AROUSAL, by A.C. Rose

“His words were so completely unnerving. Yet I felt them in my body, running through me and landing between my legs like a soft, sensual vibration. I looked up and let my gaze connect with his. Something seemed to pull us closer. ”

– From AROUSAL, by A.C. Rose

“I could give you all of it, all of me, right here and now.” He pushed his hand between my legs. “We are both physically ready. You’re so wet and I’m so hard. I could make you come again. And we don’t even have to move. I could raise your hips up high against the door and then slowly bring you down onto me. I just have to uncover myself and bury myself deep inside you, fill you. Right here. Against the door.”

“So why are you not doing that, like right now.” My words came out on a slow pant. “What are you waiting for?”

When he spoke his voice was hoarse. “Because I want you to love me when I make love to you,” he said, pressing his lips against my cheek as he pressed his hips closer to mine. He gyrated into me, my hand still atop his erection. “I don’t want this to be just a fuck to satiate your arousal. I don’t want you to lose interest and disappear.”

– From AROUSAL, by A.C. Rose

He stood up from the table, and pulled me out of my chair. Next thing I knew I was near the door, and pressed against it. Pulling my chin toward him, he brought his lips to mine. His kiss was delicious. He gave so much when his mouth was on mine, and our tongues danced. The intimacy reignited the passion below. He was about to place his hand on my cheek when I grabbed it. I placed it on my breast, daring him not to touch me. My body tensed and I swallowed loudly as I awaited his next move.

– From AROUSAL, by A.C. Rose

“I pushed you to agree to be mine, if even for a day at a time, but I can’t push you to fall in love with me,” he said on a sigh. He looked lost. “That night, on the terrace, I was on a mission to carry out my grandmother’s last wishes.”

“I know.” I patted his arm warmly. “It was weird, but you were clear about that.”

“But I fell in love with you, Allison.” His voice was cracking with emotion. His body was trembling. “I didn’t realize how much I could love you, or how much it would hurt if you didn’t love me back.”
– From AROUSAL, by A.C. Rose

“How am I supposed to know, in six short dates, who you really are?” Now I was irked. “How do I know you won’t be a horror show on day seven or turn out to be a raging narcissist who will try to control me the rest of my life?”

“By this,” he said, grabbing my hand and putting it on his heart. “This is pure and it beats for you.” He gazed deeply into my eyes and held my hand in place inside his suit jacket and over his shirt. As it pumped beneath my touch I remembered when our hearts beat so close together, and how good it felt. I knew how much he wanted me to believe he was sincere. But I couldn’t believe this was a fairytale with a happy ending. Real life, my real life, was crumbling. Even if we did get together, he would leave me some day. There was only one way to bypass the pain.

Arousal Excerpt: The First Love Bite

“Okay, how about you consider one day at a time?” he urged. At least he was negotiating rather than trying to drag me back to his cave like a Neanderthal. “For now, pretend, for this night, you are mine. And I am yours. Let’s see where it goes.”

I was impressed with his temporary solution. His words made me tingle all over, in a good way.
“Okay, one night,” I said, “and no sex.” I couldn’t believe I brought up the S word again and how loudly I emphasized the word no. “You have to stop interfering with my job and let me get back to work.”
“Done.” He moved closer to me. “Except one more thing.”
With that, he bent down and moved one large hand to the side of my head, into my hair, to gently hold me. His lips found mine and he kissed his way down my cheek and chin, finally finding my neck. He caressed my neck sweetly, and sensually licked the skin, sending an erotic charge through me. I melted into his arms. Before I even realized what he was doing, he found a sensitive spot and began sucking. Hard.  Pleasure released into my body and hurried through my system, making me desire him even more. He held his mouth in place for a long time and then pulled away with a look of satisfaction, turning my cheek so he could look at his handiwork.
“There,” he teased. “Mine. For tonight, anyway.”
“Did you give me a hickey?” I snapped, reaching to where his mouth had been. “Vampire! That is going to last a lot longer than one night.”
He gave me a sly look. “Ms. Monroe, you don’t really believe in vampires, do you?”

“Not any more than I believe in destiny.” Maybe I wasn’t really sure what I believed at the moment with hickey-induced endorphins flooding my brain.
“I’ve left my love bite so you’d remember the feelings stirred tonight, even if you aren’t ready to accept that this is more than a sexual connection we share.” He appeared to be quite pleased with himself.
He was right. I had a hard time believing this was anything more than animal attraction, and I still thought he was off the rails with all his talk about fate. But I had to admit, it took a person who was self-assured enough to slice through my resistance to letting men get close and clever enough to keep my interest aroused.

Steamy Romances Are Good For You

lets read

By A.C. Rose

Erotic romances can help you explore your fantasies, stimulate your libido, and bring you closer to the one you love, according to three psychologists I recently interviewed.

Even though these books may be a little addictive, they are, overall, good for your emotional health and your love life.

They Offer Fun, Fantasy, and Exploration
“The benefits of erotic romances can fun and entertaining to read, encourage fantasy, and encourage explorations of new sexual activities in a safe way. These may be activities that you do or don’t want to try in real life, or may not have the opportunity to try in real life. Do erotic romances create false expectations of men? Perhaps. But no more so than Disney, Jerry Maguire (since when do we need someone else to complete us?), or just about any romantic comedy ever made. If you are someone who left Mr. and Mrs. Smith feeling despondent that you are not married to Brad Pitt or left Harry Potter looking for your magic wand, then yes, you may want to exercise caution when reading erotic romances. However, for most people, erotic romance novels are fiction and can be used as wonderfully sexually stimulating tools for fantasy.”
-Alexis Conason, Psy.D., Licensed Psychologist

They Are Great Aphrodisiacs
“Erotic romances are an important way to get in touch with your romantic feelings and sexual fantasies. They are a way to develop those fantasies, to better understand what you need, what turns you on, and what helps you feel very intimately connected with your partner. Erotic romances can be great aphrodisiacs, and truly a benefit to relationships. Or they can be a fulfillment in themselves and a detriment to your relationship. Isn’t this true of so many things in life? If you can bring it home and share it, it’s great. But if you escape into it, and meet your needs in a more solitary and self-absorbed way, it can become a problem or worsen existing problems. We want to feel the heat! But the important thing is to take those home, talk about them, enact them, experiment, and be freer as a couple.”
Carl G. Hindy, Ph.D. Licensed Clinical Psychologist

They Help You Accept Love
“There are multiple benefits to erotic reading material. Specifically for those that are uncomfortable with intimacy or their sexuality, reading erotic romances can increase comfort. For couples that have problems with differing sex drives, I recommend reading these novels as foreplay or a way to increase desire. Additionally, these novels often describe relationships between individuals that learn to accept the love of another and be vulnerable. This is modeling positive outcomes for individuals that struggle with allowing themselves to be open and vulnerable in relationships.”

“Have I aroused you, my love?” He was whispering, teasing me with his voice. “Have I increased your interest in me?”

“You know you have,” I breathed. “I need you to touch me.”

“Yes, I see you do. And I could … so easily … rip your panties off and take you.” He gently caressed the exposed flesh of my hip. “But this is not the time.”

“I can’t stand being so out of control.”

“On the contrary, I think you need this. You need to feel out of control to give yourself permission to surrender, to stop fighting this. It is the only way you can open to me.”

“Don’t you need it too?” I sighed, or whined, or panted, as I tried to press closer to him, wanting to feel him inside me.

“Oh yes, I need it too,” he said, grabbing my head and pulling my face to his. His tongue drove into my mouth, filling me, making me gasp for breath at first. He held my head close as he slowly moved his tongue in and out until it felt like our mouths were making love. It lulled me into a hypnotic state and relaxed me so much that with each thrust inward he was deeper. His breathing was ragged when he finally pulled away. My mouth felt raw. “Yes, I would like to take you, all of you, right here and now. But I will hold my arousal and wait for you. This is not just about sex for us. But I think you can tell my desire for you is strong.”

My whole being was humming with erotic tension and desire in that moment, but he, on the other hand, had amazing restraint.

I sighed and pressed my head to his shoulder. I felt like we should be rolling over and smoking a cigarette from what we had done with our mouths. And that we should follow up with crazy sex.

“Right now you are just aroused, my love,” he said, kissing my head. “Desire is coursing through you, and anyone could satisfy this need. But I want you to truly want me. When I make love to you, it will be because you chose me with your heart. And because you know who I am.”

“Holy fuck.”

“Yes, it will be, when we finally do.”

Allison Monroe just got kissed. On an elevator. By a stranger. And she liked it a lot.

And he’s determined win her love by the full moon. That means he only has six days to prove they are soul mates.
How will this mysterious billionaire from Transylvania win over a skeptical New Yorker who does not believe in relationships, and thinks meant-to-be love is a myth like unicorns and Santa Claus?
There’s only one way to avoid a clash of cultures and rise above her romantic resistance. He must speak to her in a language she understands. Arousal.
